This hat is quick to knit and can be finished in an evening or two by even novice knitters. Great last minute gift.
I used yarn that I spun myself, but I believe any softly spun, bulky weight would do. If you want the same look as I made, look for a ‘rag’ two tone, two ply yarn. Mine is 100% wool, but a wool blend or acrylic would work too. A very small amount of contrasting yarn is needed for embellishment of your choice. Bulky weight or worsted will work for the embellishments or embroidery.
This made to fit most heads 19-20 inches comfortably. The hat only requires about 90 yds.
using size 8 circular and size 8 dps, gauge is 10 sts = 3 inches or 3.3 sts = 1 inch.
