From the Letter:
Meggie you are going to make your babies all these little items and they will out grow them before you blink, so if your going to knit for a newborn, make it an heirloom, use the best yarn you can find and when they outgrow it wrap it up in tissue and save it. When they are having their first child it will be such a treasure for them to have. And you my darling have the best treasure, watching your child grow. I will miss this, i weep at the thought of never holding your babies, but when they are born I will be there, when they rollover I will be there, because you my darling will take me with you.
These little socks complete the eat your carrots trio that is definitely worth passing down
