This design was inspired by the image of overgrown ivy draping across the ruins of an old cathedral window. It just begged to come to life in yarn form.

This cowl is perfect for an intermediate knitter, utilizing the techniques of knit, purl, right and left twists, knit two together, slip slip knit, yarn overs, central double decrease, and 2/2 right cross cables. Educational links are provided for the right and left twists.

What do you need:

  • One skein of DK weight yarn approximately 250 yards.

Recommended yarn is Alainn Yarns Old Passport DK yarn, shown in Sea Spray.

  • US needle size 6 (4.0 mm), 20” 20” / 51 cm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends
  • (1) Stitch markers.
