This pattern (6 pages) contains detailed written instructions, as well as several step-by-step photos.

The pattern uses provisional cast-on, yarn-over increases, knitting in round, and finishes with an i-cord bind-off. I explain the tricky parts of the pattern, and provide step-by-step photos.

The sample potholders are all made with Russian cotton yarn made by the St.Petersburg yarn factory. If you do not have this particular yarn available - don’t worry, just take whatever cotton yarn you like and needles that produce a reasonably dense fabric, and you are good to go!

The exact stitch count and gauge are not very important in this pattern. However, since potholders are mainly used with hot pots and pans, I recommend using heavier cotton yarns for thicker and denser fabric, or, if all you have is lace-weight yarn, hold the yarn double.

This pattern is great for using left-over yellow and beige yarns, you need about 8 yards / 7.5 meters of white yarn, 5 yards / 5 meters of beige, and 60 yards / 55 meters of off-white.

The Egg potholder is a fun little project. Takes just enough work to make it interesting, and not a lot of time.
