This capelet is worked from the bottom up. The bottom ribbing is worked separately for the Back and Front in rows, then joined in the round for the Body of the capelet. The bottom ribbing side seams are sewn during finishing. Another option would be to leave the ribbing open at the sides for a split hem, or you could double the cast on numbers and work in the round from the beginning. I chose to do the Back and Front ribbing separately to avoid the challenge of casting on a large number of stitches and joining without twisting the stitches. The colorwork patterns are presented in chart form only.

finished measurements:
Circumference at bottom: 55 (59 1⁄4, 63 1⁄4, 68 3⁄4)“ / 139.5 (150.5, 160.5, 174.5) cm
Length: 16 1⁄2” / 42 cm (not including neck)
Shown in size 59 1⁄4” / 150.5 cm

suggested yarn:
Berroco Ultra Wool DK (292 yd / 267 m per 3 1⁄2 oz / 100 g ball; 100% Superwash Wool): 1 (1, 2, 2) ball(s) #83113 Black Pepper (C1) 1 ball each #8334 Cast Iron (C2), #83108 Fog (C3), and #8300 Snow (C4)
The sample size 59 1⁄4” / 150.5 cm used the entire ball of C1 with only a few yards left over. You may want to purchase an extra ball to ensure you will have enough yarn to complete the neck.
