This sock pattern was inspired by the El Galeón , a 170-foot, 495-ton, authentic wooden replica of a galleon that was part of Spain’s West Indies fleet. My daughter and I toured this replica and I was completely taken in with all the knots and ropes that covered the ship. The pattern details are dense creating cabling that gives the illusion of knots and twisting ropes.

This pattern is cuff-down.

NOTIONS: Stitch markers (Optional), tapestry needle for weaving ends.

PATTERN STYLE: The pattern contains written as well as chart instructions. There is a key and full abbreviation list included as well.

DIFFICULTY: Beginner. This pattern is mostly knit and purl, with some twisted stitches that are done without a cable needle.

YARN: Thre pattern is better suited for solid or lightly tonal yarn to show off the detail of the mock cables. They may get lost in a heavy variegated yarn, but a subtle variegation should be okay.

ERRATA:
Heel Flap:
Row 2: WYIF Sl1 purl-wise, P27 (31, 35), turn.
