Elaia means an olive tree in Greek, and olive trees were the inspiration for these socks. The colorway I used for these socks is called Oliivi (the Finnish word for olive) and it inspired me to create cables that remind me of the twisted and gnarly branches of olive trees and wrapped stitches in the forms of olives.
The Elaia socks are knitted from cuff down. The socks are knitted with a cable and wrapped stitch pattern. The heels have reinforced heel flaps and French heels, and the gussets make the socks fit perfectly even if you have a high instep. All techniques used are explained in the pattern.
