From the designer:
“The idea behind this design is that the skirt can be knitted in all sizes and using yarns of different materials following the same pattern.

Normally starting a new knitting project can be a drawn-out process – working out the size, finding appropriate yarn and making a swatch to check the gauge. Of course this can also be part of the fun, but wouldn’t it sometimes be great to be able to just grab some yarn and needles and get on with it?

I have knitted the skirt using mixed yarns – wool/flax and cotton/flax and – and size 3.5mm needles, but you can use whatever you like.

The upper part of the is ribbed knitting, then plain knitting in the middle and the last part laceknitting.

For the skirt shown in the illustration ed. note: not shown I used a yarn containing 60% flax and 40% cotton which gives it a rustic look.
