This shawl is being issued as a knit along, to begin in early September. The long runway until the knit along begins is to accommodate the time required to dye the yarn people will need for this beautiful and dramatic shawl.

Our “Elegance of Being” shawl is a design originally created to showcase the colors in the Limited Edition Elegance of Being kit from Lucky Violet Color Co. This dramatic shawl is fun to knit with interesting textures in both color and stitch patterns. The original colors were inspired by the oil painting, “Elegance of Being” by fine artist and knitwear designer J. L. Fleckenstein.

A top-down triangle shawl, Elegance of Being makes beautiful use of dramatic, contrasting colors in a lovely striping pattern that varies as the knitting continues, finishing with a beautiful dark contrast pencil line edge.

The shawl is so beautiful we decided to issue the pattern as a
September 2021 knit along featuring a choice of Mystery Kits in 2 and 3 colors, inspired by 10 beautiful photographs curated specifically for this project.

While three colors were used in the original piece, two colors may be used if you would like to keep your budget close to or below $100.

The original kits featured our lovely custom Merino/Cashmere blend “Betty” yarn base, resulting in an irresistibly soft shawl that you will want to pet over and over again. The new kits are available on Betty as well as a number of our other wonderful yarn bases (but we hope you will choose Betty). You can see inspiration photos for the new kits on the following pages, and when you are ready to get your kit on order …
