Elementary is a striped shawl that wraps easily around the shoulders. It uses two contrasting yarns and looks wonderful with self striping yarns, variegated yarns, and solid colors. Pick two and go!

Th prototype used two skeins of Pampered Pachyderm sock yarn and a US size 6 (4mm) needle. Final measurements were 24 inches deep and 68 inches wide. I suggest two skeins with 435 yards each to ensure enough for binding-off. I had to use my main color to bind-off as I was a few yards short of the contrasting color.

The pattern includes row by row instructions for both the body and the edging. The lace edging also includes a chart. Although the pattern is not hard, I would still rate it at an adventurous beginner since it has a garter tab start and slipped stitches.
