I’ve always loved elves. Santa’s little helpers in particular as there’s something so cheerful about them, don’t you think? And what tree would be complete without their cheery presence?

With a polystyrene (Styrofoam) ball for his center, he is lightweight and sturdy and works up quickly in 4ply yarn using a 2mm crochet hook to measure 7cm (3 inches) from bottom of covered ball to top of antlers.

Pattern includes detailed written instructions using British crochet terms with American terms given in brackets. A listing of materials needed and stitches used is also provided along with pattern notes containing links to helpful Youtube sites for mastering an invisible decrease.

Materials:
Small amounts of 4 ply yarn in: Pale pink, green, white, yellow & brown
2mm crochet hook
Stitch marker or tapestry needle with thread pulled through it to mark the beginning of each round
60mm polystyrene ball
1 pair of 6mm black eyes (Posts only, fasteners can be discarded)
Fibrefill
Dark pink embroidery thread
Metal foil snowflake for decoration (optional)
