Elinore, the heroine in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, was a practical woman who nevertheless had romance in her heart. Rita Nauman designed some absolutely beautiful socks for her Austen book club. Inspired by that design and with full knowledge of Elinore’s character, I designed these wristies.

Scalloped lace edge meets a section of (dare I say ‘practical’) ribbing to keep it securely on your hands. Next is a lacey top and solid palm to keep your hands elegantly adorned and warm.

This pattern is also very fetching knit in a solid or semi-solid for occasions when muted is more the thing. It moves from romantic to elegant with ease.
