Preceded by a version for wee ones, this cozy heirloom sweater was upsized and tweaked to suit children from kindergarten into their early teens. It features a variety of aran cable patterns on both body & sleeves with a stand-up collar. It’s finished with a zipper through the body and a button closure at the neck. The sweater is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. Shown in size 8.

Finished Chest: 27.5 (29.25, 31, 32.75, 34.5)”
Finished Length: 16.5 (18.5, 20, 21, 22)”
Size: 6 (8, 10, 12, 14)
Gauge: 20 sts and 32 rows per 4” in stockinette on larger needles; 24-st Chart D Panel measures just under 3.5” on larger needles
Yarn: 950 (1115, 1265, 1415, 1540) yards worsted weight yarn
Tools: Size 5 (3.75 mm) and size 6 (4 mm) circular needles and set of 5 DPNs in each size, stitch markers, cable needle
Notions: Two 1” buttons, 14.75 (16.75, 18.25, 19.25, 20.25)” separating zipper for shorter option^ or 16.75 (18.75, 20.25, 21.25, 22.25)” separating zipper for full-length zipper

^Shown with a 2-way separating zipper. I chose to use a zipper that hits below the button closure because my son does not like the feel of the zipper on his skin, but for a stiffer collar or extra warmth, instructions are also given for a full-length zipper.
