In Norse mythology, Élivágar (Ice Waves) are rivers that existed in Ginnungagap at the beginning of the world.
When the venomous yeast from the Élivágar froze to ice and overspread its banks it fell as rain through the mild air of Ginnungagap. The rime, infused with the cold of Niflheim from which the Élivágar find their source in the wellspring Hvergelmir, began to fill the void. It then combined with the lifegiving fire and heat of Muspelheim, melting and dripping and giving form to Ymir, progenitor of the frost giants.
I come from the land of frost and cold. The sun doesn’t warm these lands. Our feet are cold and icy. This design is first in my mythology line, there will be more to come!

Yarn
3 skeins of Aran weight, 150 m (164 yards) / 100 g The sample uses 3 skeins of Garnstudio; DROPS Nepal; 65% wool, 35% alpaca, in color 4434, Purple Heather and is size 39 EU.
Needles
5 mm (8 US), set of 5 Double Pointed Needles, or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge
17 sts and 28 rounds = 10 cm (4 inches) in stockinette stitch, knitted in the round and after wet blocking.
Notes
I have not assigned a short row turn (w&t) for the heel, you can use which ever method feels the best for you. You can even do a flap heel as long as you follow the stitch pattern for the first 13 (for left foot) and 14 (for right foot) rows.

2/2 LC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and place at front of work, k2, then k2 from cable needle
