I’m not often demonstrative about my beliefs or my politics, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel strongly. I believe it is a human right to be the person you wish to be, to love the person you wish to love, and in so doing, to be free from fear and persecution.
I will be watching these Sochi Olympics because I am a patriot, because Canada has some fantastic athletes, and because those athletes are striving to be the people they want to be, and they are deserving of my support. But I will also be watching with a wary and guarded eye, worried about our LGBTQ athletes and their families, as well as the Russian LGBTQ folk who are not free in a great many respects.
Starting February 6 - a day before opening ceremonies - and continuing until February 24 - a day after closing ceremonies - I will donate 50% of each sale of any of my patterns to http://egale.ca/ This organization does great work on behalf of LGBTQ folk, and I especially appreciate their work with youth across the country, and their advocacy for transpeople.
I thank you for your support,

Pattern is for a pair of fitted fingerless gloves that are knit in the round, including some lovely button loop detail at the wrist.

Pattern covers a short length option in sizes Small/Medium/Large/Extra Large fits 7/7.5/8/8.5 inches around the hand. Yarn requirements are 180/190/215/225 yards respectively.

Pattern also offers an elbow-length option in the same sizes and requires 340/360/390/410 yards respectively.

This design arose from a collaboration between Kim of Indigodragonfly yarns who supplied the yarn, and Karen of Shall We Knit? in Waterloo, Ontario who donated the kits to the November 2012 Knot Hysteria retreat. Kits were supplied in two colourways found exclusively at Shall We Knit?: “Stick Out Your Tongue and Say Mine!” (blues) and “Shall We Tint?” (oranges). More of those colours can be had at www.shallweknit.com

Buttons were sourced from Closure Fine Fastenings, a tiny independent button boutique within the Shall We Knit? shop.

Thanks for supporting my work.
