Elna June is my grandmother - the grandmother that always had a crochet hook in her hands and kept us updated on all the family doings. Birthdays were always special with her. She taught me to crochet lace with those tiny steel hooks and cotton yarn. Maybe that’s where I inherited the urge to keep fiber moving through my hands. Oh, how I wish I could have shared some of the beautiful fibers we have today with her. This one skein shawl partners lace bits with cables in a wide border. It is shaped into a gentle crescent as you work from the outer cables and lace to garter. It is finished with a beaded bind-off. Instructions for the lace and cable border are written and charted. Detailed instructions are provided for a knitted lace cast-on and beaded bind off.
