When I created this design it reminded me of something that an elf might wrap herself into. Thus the name, Elvia, good elf.

Elvia is a half-circle shaped shawl knit in stockinette stitch with a small flower lace motif and a ruffle all around that is knit simultaneously with the main body of the shawl.
The shawl is worked by beginning with the neck ruffle, then working from the top down and outward.
It can easily be knitted without the bobbles that adorn the lower section.

The pattern has been tested by wonderful test knitters catpurloo, SusannahC and noddingviolets.
I am extremely grateful to catpurloo, who not only provided me with valuable input on the pattern but also granted me permission to use her wonderful photographs with beautiful model Ashlynn Eggebrecht wearing her shawl.

Materials needed:

  • US 6/4mm long circular needle

  • about 1100 yards of light fingering / fingering weight yarn

  • 2 stitch markers.

The pattern is most suited for a confident beginner or intermediate knitter.

If you have questions about the pattern or having trouble while knitting it, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Update: A revised version notice for the pattern has been sent to all Ravelry Buyers on 2 Dec 2011.
