This little whirlwind of a tam has an ever-branching spiral of leaves worked from the crown to the brim. Easier than it looks, it will certainly keep you interested throughout. Bet you can’t make just one. I consider this an intermediate project, maybe not your first lace pattern, but maybe second or third.

It starts with a short length of i-cord (kind of a belly button cast on) and then the leaves just start multiplying in 8 ever changing tiers to the half twisted ribbed brim. This hat matches my Spiraling Leaves Fingerless Gloves and also my Embarrassment of Leaves Capelet. I used madelinetosh Tosh Merino DK in Tern for the hat in the photos using a little more than three fourths of the skein.
