Embonpoint \äⁿ-bōⁿ-ˈpwaⁿ\ adjective

  • sufficiently fat so as to have a pleasing fullness of figure

The name suits both the yarn and the pattern perfectly. The yarn is fabulously round and knits up into a lusciously thick fabric. The pattern features a fat little faux cable motif made with simple slipped stitches. The socks are asymmetric. The first part of the cuff is worked flat. After a few rows, the sides are joined and the rest of the sock is worked in the round. This construction is interesting to look at, fun to do, and ensures the socks will be very forgiving if you happen to have thicker ankles or calves.

The pattern includes instructions for two alternate versions, one to omit the split cuff, and a second to both omit the split cuff and start the ribbing at the top of the sock.
