Emergency Cowl

This pattern came about as a last minute gift. It works up in about 8 hours. I used a 7.5 inch hook and 2 skeins of Berroco Comfort Chunky. You can use pretty much any chunky yarn. If you don’t have a 7.5 hook, an L will work but you may need more than 300 yards. The mobius twist means that this cowl works up in just 20 rows. And the broomstick lace detail around the edges adds a little flair, but also means you’ll need size 19 knitting needles.
Chain 65. Twist ch once, join with a sl st to 1st ch.
R1: Hdc in back loop of each ch, to join, then hdc in both top loops around. 130 hdc. Join to 1st hdc with a sl st, ch 1, turn.
R2: Hdc in each hdc around, ch 1, turn.
R3-R17: hdc in each hdc around, ch 1, turn. End R17 without a turning ch.
R18: insert hook in blo of hdc, pull up a loop and slip it over knitting needle.Repeat for 64 more stitches, then work the same way up the other knitting needle.
R19: using your crochet hook, gently slide two loops off needle and sl st then sc twice into both loops. Two loops at a time, pull loops off needle and sc twice into them. Continue around. Sl st into 1st sc, ch 1, turn.
Hdc into each sc around, sl st into 1st hdc, fo.
