Emi’s Shawl is a symmetrical triangle shawl with graphic color blocking, using a mixture of garter stitch, slipped stitches, and two-color brioche to create engaging textures. I love working with indie dyers, and Émilie of EmiB yarns is an up and coming dyer with an amazing sense of color! I named this shawl for her, she is my friend and trusted test knitter, and I am very happy to be working with her yarns after knowing her and working with her for so many years.

Emi has some beautiful kits available on her website in this gorgeous Yak blend I used for this shawl design, and she is offering a 15% discount as well! Be sure to check out all the color combos, HERE!

Grab 3 skeins of fingering yarn in complimenting colors! There are no rules for this one. It is great for stash busting or using leftovers! With 2 sizes included in the pattern, there is something for everyone. This pattern can also be easily modified to fit your style!

Skill level: Beginner brioche friendly!! I wrote this pattern specifically for new brioche knitters who might want to try the technique in a pattern! Techniques used: knit, purl, knitting increases and decreases, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increase, symmetrical top down shawl shaping, slip stitch textures.

Construction Notes: This symmetrical triangle shawl is knit from the top down, with increases in the center as well as along the edges. The pattern begins with garter stitch and Color A, increasing stitches to get you to the first section of two-color brioche and slipped stitches. You will bring in Color B, and the slipped stitch pattern will be at the edges as well as the middle of the shawl, worked on the bias. The shawl shaping increases will be within the brioche triangle that begins to form as the shawl grows. A garter stitch stripe in Color B divides and blends the colors, transitioning to another graphic color block of slipped stitches and brioche triangles using Colors B and C. A small border of garter stitch and blended slip stitch stripes finishes the shawl, bringing all 3 colors together. This shawl is very easy to modify by adding or omitting repeats of each section! I wear this shawl with the top edge wrapped warmly around my neck or shoulders, and the bottom point of the triangle facing down.

This pattern has both written instructions and charts, which are used simultaneously.
