In most illusion knitting you only see stripes from directly in front and the image appears when you look from the side.

This blanket is different. When you look from in front you see yellow squares in a dark background. Inside the squares you see stripes. This works for flat items like a blanket or wall hanging. If you want to make cushions use our Emoji Illusion Cushion pattern instead.

The pattern contains charts for the four squares you can see in the blanket plus Winking, Sleeping and Eyes Right;

Each square measures 30cm (12”) and takes approximately 110 metres (120 yards) dark DK and 30 metres light DK. I used Stylecraft Special in Lobelia and Sunshine. Join any number of squares together to make a blanket or wall-hanging the size you want.

You can use any yarn but a different thickness might change the overall size.
