A polka dot texture bounces across this cuddly baby blanket with a contrast color border. This blanket is sure to be baby’s favorite in the stroller, car, or lounging at the park. Knit in a soft light worsted weight, this blanket provides just the right amount of warmth and can be made in so many adorable color combinations. The hardest part is choosing!

Construction Details
This blanket is made in one piece, with side borders picked up and knit off the side of the blanket. Once the knitting is complete, short seams join the contrast color border corners. There are tutorial videos linked in the pattern for the Crochet Cast On and Mattress Stitch seaming.

Techniques Necessary

  • Crochet cast on
  • Bind off
  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Decreasing (ssk, k2tog)
  • Increasing (m1l, m1r)
  • Seaming (at the corners of the blanket)
  • Weaving in ends

Finished measurements: Approximately 30” wide x 30” long

Yarn: 2 colors of light worsted weight (CYCA #3) yarn in the following yardage amounts:
Main Color (MC): 660 yards.
Contrast Color (CC): 220 yards.
Sample made with Cascade 220 Superwash (100% superwash wool, 220 yds /100 g) in Teal (MC) and Lime (CC).

Gauge: 21 stitches and 28 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch using size needle to obtain gauge.

Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) 24” circular needle or size needed for gauge, US 4 (3.5 mm) 24” circular needle or one size smaller than size needed for gauge. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Crochet Hook: size E (3.5 mm) or F (4 mm) crochet hook for the crochet cast on.

Other Materials: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
