Notes From the Designer, Janica York Carter:

•Greek philosopher Epicharmus tried to explain the nature of optical illusions in 500 B.C.E. He theorized that our brains could perceive an image clearly but that our senses betrayed us when viewing optical illusions. Mosaic knitting can seem like an optical illusion. Mosaic knitting is a deceptively simple technique that can create intricate designs while never using more than one strand of yarn each row.

•You can use all three stitch patterns as I did, or you can choose just one or two to use throughout. An I-cord cast-on continues up the sides and ends in an I-cord bind-off for understated finishing. This seamless piece is one size fits most, although length and shoulder drape may alter in appearance based on individual frames. You can easily reduce or increase the number of repeats—length or width—if desired. There is ample yardage in the kit to do so.

•Contains both written and charted directions.

Watch our video to learn how to work Judy’s magic cast on, i-cord cast on with continuous icord edge, foundation rows and up to row 3 of the first fan section.
