Introduction -
Back in the summer of 2013 I decided to play around with a personal project, a dragon scarf done in double knitting. I showed a couple of people the concepts for it, and many were interested in also knitting my design. The Cloud Dragon Scarf was born, and from there it’s been a crazy few years. Epoch is the 100th pattern from Epic Knits, and it features a new dragon pattern (with clouds, as is tradition ;) ). This MKAL will be released over 10 weeks with clues being released every other week.

Special notes -
Before we get into the details - This pattern can be knit in either double knitting or stranded colorwork in the round (or flat, if you prefer), instructions for both are included in the pattern.

Equipment -
For either Double Knit or Colorwork in the Round -

  • 800 yards of Main Color and 800 yards of Contrasting Color (1600 yards total)
  • Stitch markers
  • 16” US 2 - 2.75 mm needles - or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle

Colors -
Some good color combos to try out include -
• Red and Black
• Blue and Gold
• Gold and Black
• Silver and Blue
• Green and Gold
• Black and White
• White and Pine
Remember that you can always test if your colors have enough contrast by taking a photo of the colors side by side and using a filter to turn it into a black and white photo.

Swatching -
Gauge is not vital to this project, so swatching is not necessary. If, however, you want to do a test swatch there are two sets of swatching patterns I have up for free – Four Elements Baby Dragons 1 and 2. Total yardage does not account for swatching.
