This cowl is made especially for that single skein of handspun yarn that is begging to be knit but might not be long enough to use on its own. Equinox combines commercial yarn with handspun to highlight the beautiful colors of spring or fall, when a cowl is most useful.

This cowl has two parts that can be worn separately or together. It can be worked in one piece or sewn at the end. Choose your yarn weight, length, and colors. Enjoy the beauty!

Size S: 20 in/51 cm circumference, 6 in/15 cm deep
Size L: 48 in/122 cm circumference, 5in/13 cm deep

Gauge:
Small: 24 sts and 32 rows over 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch (sport weight)
Large: 18 sts and 28 rows over 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch (worsted weight)

Yarn Requirements:
S: 100g sport weight yarn(334 yds/305 m, 100% superwash merino wool) plus 1 skein handspun in sport/DK weight, at least 2 oz.
L: 200g worsted weightyarn (216 yds/198 m, 77% acrylic, 20% wool, 3% viscose) plus 1 skein handspun in worsted/aran weight, at least 3 oz.

Gauge is not critical in this project. You can switch yarn weights, which will change your gauge, but as the smaller project also uses the smaller yarn you can feel comfortable that using a larger yarn on the smaller cowl will produce a tube that will still fit over the head. Be sure to switch needle sizes if you change yarn sizes.
