Equinox is a texture-filled bias-knit shawl designed to make the most of both tonal & variegated indie-dyed yarns of various lengths and weights.

Utilizing two easily memorized four-row repeats, first for the garter stitch rows, and then for the knotted openwork rows, this bias-knit triangular shawl works up quickly. The addition of a spunky picot-bind-off provides the perfect ending as well as skill building for advanced beginners.

A handy tally chart is included to keep track of the garter & knotted openwork four-row repeats. Because the switch from garter stitch to knotted openwork is determined by weight rather than row count, a scale that measures grams is a must for this project.

Finished Size(s): Varies…determined by the weight & length of the yarn you use (samples measure between 48” - 65” from tip to tip).

Yarn: Indie-dyed yarns of various lengths (minimum 220 yards) and weights including fingering, sport, DK, worsted, Aran & bulky.

Needles: 36” circulars depending on weight of yarn used:

  • Fingering: US 5 (3.75 mm)
  • Sport: US 6 (4.00 mm)
  • DK: US 7 (4.50 mm)
  • Worsted: US 8 (5.00 mm)
  • Aran: US 9 (5.50 mm)
  • Bulky: US 10.5 (6.50 mm)
