As soon as November hits, it seems as if people go crazy for the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I personally don’t care for the flavor, but I do love the colors of the PSL season.
I also love that PSL season means the real season of knitwear is starting, so I get as excited as anyone else for the first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the year.
Knit in DK weight, this hat knits up quickly, especially with short row panels of twisted rib spiraling around the hat adding interest to the knitting. The crown features the same twisted rib spiral.
Try knitting it in a highly variegated yarn to break up any pooling or a dip-dyed yarn for an intentional-pooling effect in the short rows. You could also hold a self-striping fingering weight and a solid fingering weight together to create a DK and to play with the striping effects.

This pattern includes short row wrapping and turning. I recommend Purl Soho’s tutorial if you need any help.
