Essential Sweater Dress
This piece was the first inspiration of the season and is proving to be an absolute favorite! We’ve created a go-to style that is fashionable and works for every body type and lifestyle. This sweater has a luxurious drape, utilizing the wonderful characteristics of the Columbia Yarn.
Available in 4 sizes:
X-Small (28-30” bust, 42” finished)
Small (32-34” bust, 46” finished)
Medium (36-38” bust, 50” finished)
Large (40-42” bust, 54” finished)

There was an extra number given in the dimensions for the sleeve opening.
Corrected in the newest version of the pattern.
INSTRUCTIONS BODY
With 40” needle, CO 126 (138, 150, 162) sts. Join in round taking care not to twist sts, PM for beg of round. Set-up Rnd (RS): K19 (22, 25, 28), PM, k25, PM, k38 (44, 50, 56), PM, k25, PM, knit to end.
Next Rnd: Work in St st to M, work in Garter st to next M; rep from once, knit to end.
Work in patts as est until piece measures 24.5” from CO edge, ending with rnd 2 of Garter st & St st.
BACK Work in patt as est until piece measures 4 (4.5, 5, 5.5)” from underarm starting rows, end with RS row to beg neck and shoulder shaping.
Neck and Shoulders Shaping Read the following section before proceeding. Note: Shoulder shaping is introduced while neck shaping is in progress.
Technique: short row shaping is used for both the neck and shoulder shaping.
Set-up Row (WS): Work in patt as est over 25 (28, 31, 34) sts, join new ball of yarn, work over next 13 sts and place them on waste yarn or stitch holder, work in patt as est to end. 25 (28, 31, 34) sts at each side.
Right Neck and Shoulder: No change.
Left Neck and Shoulder: Set up Row (RS): Work in patt to end. Row 1 (WS): Work in patt to last st, w&t and place st onto stitich holder. 24 (27, 30, 33) sts. No further changes….continue in RS and WS sequence.
