Transitional pieces, such as this long lace cowl, are the perfect accessory for those in-between-season days. The bold lace stitch pattern may look complicated, but it is only a four-row repeat; perfect for those who want to try crocheting lace for the first time. Rely on a self-striping yarn with long color changes for a bit of extra color or use a tonal or solid colored yarn to really let the lace pattern shine!

This patten was part of a live Creative Crochet Corner Event. the pattern is free when signing up for the Creative Crochet Corner newsletter. You can watch the free video tutorial on the Creative Crochet Corner website, or on YouTube.

Yarnspirations Caron Skinny Cakes (light worsted weight, 100% Acrylic; 795 yards 250 grams: Raspberry Ganache #296618, 1 cake

Note: nearly the entire cake was used in this project - there were only about 10 yards left over. Plan to unravel your gauge swatch to be sure you do not run out of yarn, or you may choose to make your cowl a bit shorter (smaller in circumference).

Gauge
Work from Etta’s Lace Chart without repeating the sections in red, for 6 rows (Row 6 is a repeat of row 2). See gauge swatch instructions below.
Piece measures 4” 10 cm tall x 5” 13 cm wide, blocked.

Although getting exact gauge isn’t crucial for this project, if you do not meet the given gauge, your project may require a different amount of yarn.
