Ever the Wind Shawl
(tip of the hat to Tommy Makem for his beautiful tune Ever the Winds)
~ cables and lace harmonize to create this lovely arc-shaped shawl knit in a luxurious merino / silk blend ~
Whether at home or out on the town, strolling along the beach or out for a day of retail therapy, this arc-shaped merino-silk blend shawl will add that special touch to any outfit. The beauty of lace and cable designs is that they will accompany your favourite jeans just as easily as your most elegant evening gown.
The shawl is knit from the bottom up, beginning with a narrow Garter stitch border. The arc-shape is achieved through strategically placed decreases between motifs. The top is finished with an I-cord bind off.
Version 1.2 available through Ravelry includes:
- two full sets of directions: one for chart users and one for those who prefer to use written directions
- directions for making the shawl wider
- stitch counts
US 4 (3.5mm) 40” / 102cm or longer circular needle, or size to obtain gauge.
Yarn Needle, Stitch Markers (optional), Cable Needle, Blocking Pins or Wires
I am indebted to Annie Maloney and her stitch design genius!
We now have our own Ravelry Group! Do come and join us in the Impeccable Knitters’ Gathering Place! You’d be ever so welcome!
The original pattern version is still available through Knit Picks -- either singly or as part of the In Tune booklet. The In Tune booklet includes six patterns and is available in either printed or eBook format on the Knit Picks website. Please note that the Knit Picks version of this pattern is charted only and does not include sizing information nor stitch counts. Please also see errata link above.
