4.25mm (G) hook was used for original hats.

This pattern includes Back Post Double Crochet and Back Post Half Double Crochet stitches.

Optional use of adjustable loop to begin the hat and Chainless Double Crochet to begin some rows (detailed instructions of these techniques are not included in the pattern).

Gauge for Aran weight worked in U.S. Double Crochet is 15 stitches and 9 rows in 4 inches. Please read pattern notes for adjustments for Aran weight.

Sample hats were crocheted using:
Cascade 220 (4002 Charcoal) 3.7 ounces/approx 231yards
Lion Brand Wool-Ease (Paprika) 3.4 ounces/approx 225 yards
Lion Cotton (Natural) 4.5 ounces/approx 215 yards
