The name is an affectionate nod to my beloved Grandmother who taught me to knit. She was a great one for malapropisms – mistakenly using one word instead of another and nothing we could say or do would convince her that a strong, small caffeinated beverage was not called an Expresso.

Whether caffeinated or not, these socks work up exceedingly quickly thanks to a winning combination of bold, regular stripes and just one travelling cable per round. They are the ultimate in ‘just one more row’ knitting.

Designed with self striping yarn in mind this unisex cabled sock is worked from the toe-up and features an afterthought heel so as not to spoil the pristine arrangement of the stripes.

Both socks may be worked as written or you may choose to mirror the direction of the cables.

A note on fit: the cables do draw the sock in a little and although this is counteracted by the ribbing if you are undecided between two sizes I would suggest choosing the larger size.
