EXTINCTION is a quick and easy shawl pattern. A slightly ribbed look is achieved by alternating sections of stockinette and reverse stockinette. Colors transition gradually into one another with linen stitch.

Length is easy to customize. Original pattern calls for 200 cast on stitches but any even number will work. For a deeper shawl, the number of colors used can be increased up from 3.

This is a great mindless pattern for experienced knitters in need of a palette cleanser. For the beginners, page 2 contains line-by-line instructions for the entire shawl, so there’s no complicated repeats to keep track of.

This pattern features Merinosaurus Worsted yarn using the colors Apatosaurus (dark purple semi-solid), Ice Age Kettle (multi-colored blend of purple, blue, brown), and Ice Age Speckle (spatter painted purple blend with some natural white showing through).
