This is a beginner or easy level pattern that is excellent for practicing crochet in the round and spike stitch. The pattern uses a six stitch repetition of single crochet spike stitches to form a split diamond “eye dazzler” style design band on the wall of the basket.

The gauge is 7 rows of single crochet in the round at 4”. The pattern calls to the reader to check the gauge when reaching row 7. The gauge is not critical, and a tighter stitch results in a sturdier, but slightly smaller, basket. The actual measurement may range between 3.5” and 4.25”.

The yardage required is unknown, but is a small portion of a skein for any of the five colors. This could be done with stash yarn and remnants.
