This is an advanced beginner friendly/easy intermediate knitting pattern that includes 5 sizes: 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-24 months, 2-5 years and 5+ (up to teen!).

gauge: 20st in 4inches (10cm).

You will need DK weight yarn and knitting needles in the right size to obtain gauge (4mm work for most), and a tapestry needle or crochet hook to weave in the yarn ends, and also the same tapestry needle to graft stitches at the back of the bonnet.
you will need up to 100g for the smallest sizes and up to 150g for the largest sizes.

one part of the balaclava is knit flat, the other part is knit in the round. you will need either a long circular needle or double pointed needles for the part that is knit in the round.

the measurements in the pattern are given in both centimeters and inches.
