While editing podcasts, I often use the Fade In effect. It’s a great way to meld two pieces together. It is very rare that a soft, warm yarn is also hard wearing or vice versa, but why not bring them together and use each yarn to its advantage?

Matching Silverpun sport and Bijou Basin’s Himalayan Trail would give you a warm, soft hand with hard wearing, tech savvy fingers! You can pair a luxury yarn, of which you can afford little yardage, with a more affordable yarn that will extend your use. Pair yarns that you feel may not hold up to a project like hard worn mittens with a more sturdy yarn that will become the fingers and thumbs. This pattern is a great way to use up scraps as well.

The pattern is knit from the cuff to the fingers and uses a traditional thumb gusset.
