(From the book):

“This classic little button-up cardigan has a simple round neck and an old-fashioned Fairisle pattern border. It is knitted in fine merino wool in a warm oatmeal mix: the Fairisle design is worked in four toning colours. The button band is trimmed with the traditional grosgain ribbon, but you could choose gingham or velvet to create an entirely different effect. This cardigan has been designed with a hem, but could easily be worked in knit 1, purl 1 rib instead, to complement the short sleeve sweater and create a twin-set. As a classic, you can make it time and time again, in a variety of ways, changing colours to suit your child’s wardrobe.”
