This Dragonpine Designs pattern was designed by Janet Filipchuk.

This Fair Isle sampler purse is a great way to try out the Fair Isle technique! The pattern is a written pattern, but the Fair Isle section is charted. Print the chart and colour it with pencil crayons or markers to see how your chosen colour combination will work! Great for using up those odds and ends from other worsted-weight projects. The size of this project can be scaled up by increasing (or decreasing for a smaller bag) the number of repeats of the pattern, or by using thicker yarn (or thinner yarn for a smaller bag). You can choose to purchase purse handles to attach to your finished purse, or you could knit or braid (or even try your hand at weaving!) a strap of your desired length or two handles. The possibilities are endless! At the end of the pattern is the written key for colours used in the sample and their placement in the chart (which symbols in which section denote different colours) if you desire more of a “recipe” of what colours to place where for a balanced look.

Materials Required:
Worsted weight yarn: up to 15 colors can be used (sample used approx. 30 meters each of 5 colours)
5mm x 40 cm (16”) circular needles
Stitch marker (optional)
