Faith, Hope, and Love have been referred to as the three divine sisters joined together hand in hand, swirling around as in a dance. Eventually, Faith and Hope vanish from the scene and Love is left dancing alone forever. This picture may appear odd until we realize that Faith and Hope were there to help Love on her way, until she was mature enough to be alone.

In the Russian language the words “Faith”, “Hope” and “Love” are also women’s names Vera (Faith), Nadezhda (Hope) and Lyubov (Love).

Faith Triangular Orenburg Shawl is the first part of the trilogy “Faith, Hope, and Love.”

Orenburg traditional knitting technique is used.

Orenburg shawls are mostly worked on garter stitch ground, and this one is not an exception. Garter stitch is produced by knitting every stitch, every row.

BASIC STITCH PATTERNS: Peas, Chain Hearts, Samovar, Snowflake.

The pattern is charted; no row by row written instructions included.

The border is worked first. It is composed of the right and left parts, they are seamed together upon completion. For the triangular body, you’ll pick up stitches along the slipped-stitch edge of Border and follow the charts. Finally, you’ll work the knitted-on narrow lace border.

You will need any lace or cobweb weight natural fiber yarn: wool, alpaca, down hair, linen, cashmere; 600-1000 m 656-1093 yds per 100 g. Use your favorite needles size
