What better way to spend your free time than playing a classic board game with your child? My family just loves to play games. Chutes and Ladders, Parcheese and Candy Land were just a few of those beloved by my kids when they were young.

Now they have grown out of that stage and moved on to more complex strategy games like Dominion or Magic the Gathering, but I have fond memories of playing with them and I enjoy the simplicity of children’s board games. When your outcome depended on the spinning of a wheel, and chance and luck led you to victory or defeat. There was something so enjoyable about climbing those ladders and sliding down those chutes, or setting up a blockade while trying to outrun your opponent, or getting the gumdrop card to move you forward.

This cable and lace pattern reminds me of those games. Each time you get to a lace section you are climbing up your home in Parcheese, and each cable section has you slipping and sliding to the bottom like in Chutes and Ladders. The big pompom is the delicious gumdrop topping as your final reward for sweet success.
