This is a pretty open lacy Christening gown or special occasion dress and matching bonnet.

The bodice is made all in one piece with an opening at the back, and the skirt is all in one piece worked in a round, with a simple pattern repeated for the length required.

This is an easy pattern once you have mastered the simple 3 row pattern, so it’s very pleasant to make. It’s also lovely to decorate on the bodice and hat if you want, but looks lovely left plain too.

The design is quite open so the skirt will need to be lined or worn over an underkirt, in my opinion, but this will be simply done.

The download document is large as it contains seperate instructions for UK and US terminology (the US follows on seperately in the 2nd half of the pattern) to avoid confusion, there are also plenty of photographs for reference.
