So you love skulls too? Then you’ll LOVE the Fancy Bones cardigan, especially because it has pockets!!!

This is a written pattern that includes a chart of the skull to help with stitch placement and a few photos for tricky parts.

It’s worked in one piece, with minimal sewing (3cm/1in) to close the top of the pockets.

I would rate this as an intermediate difficulty based on the stitches used: sc, dc, fpdc, fpedc, fptr, fpdtr, fptrtr. There’s a stitch glossary included, don’t worry! As well as a tiny written tutorial on how to read the special terms.

Please read the introduction, it’ll solve any doubts you might have along the way.

The sizes on the introduction are standard, but I’ve included tips on how to adjust the pattern to your liking.

You can use any dk weight yarn. Here’s how much you’ll need per size:

  • XS: 1,680m (1,836yd)
  • S: 1,820m (1,989yd)
  • M: 1,960m (2,142yd)
  • L: 2,100m (2,295yd)
  • XL: 2,240m (2,448yd)
  • 2X: 2,520m (2,754yd)
  • 3X: 2,660m (2,907yd)
  • 4X: 2,800m (3,060yd)
  • 5X: 2,940m (3,213yd)

If you want to use another weight yarn, you could maybe get away with a very thin worsted weight, but it would be much easier to meet and maintain gauge with a sport weight that is on the thicker side.
