I wanted to push the boundary of simple, ordinary stripes and wondered what it’d be like to take inspiration from cable knitting and combine it with playful colors. Then I thought about how the “wrong”side is often neglected in knitting. Thus, I embarked on a mission to merge all those things and turn them into a fun and playful accessory that has interesting patterns on both the public and the “wrong” side.

Fantome Cowl* is worked in the round from bottom-up, one color at at time. The motifs are created through a combination of slipped and twisted stitches. The combination of stripes and twisted stitch colorwork results in a pattern that looks deceptively harder than it really is. The techniques I use in this design create color patterns that pop without the fuss of stranded colorwork or intarsia.

~ This is the listing for that cowl pattern only. Both the Fantome Hat and Fantome Cowl are available as a bundled set in this listing. ~

Sample worked in Size Loose in Anzula Sebastian

(70% superwash merino, 30% sea cell; 395 yds/ 361
m; 4 oz/ 115 g); MC: avocado; CC: fiona. This pattern
coordinates with Fantome Hat. If you’ve purchased
both, 1 skein in each color should suffice to make both
accessories in most size combinations. If making the
larger sizes in both accessories, you might want have
some extra yarn handy, just in case.*
