Coat and hat ensemble from Stitchcraft, January 1967.

Uses Patons 101 Courtelle Double Knitting or Double Crepe, 10/11/12 1 oz. balls in main colour and 1 1oz. ball (all sizes) of a contrasting colour. Original colours used not specified; the black-and-white photo shows a white/light garment with bold-coloured trim.

Coat is to fit a 22-23 / 24-25 / 26-27 inch chest, ca. age 3-6. Hat is given in one size only, “to fit an average head size.” Tension: 5 1/2 sts and 7 1/2 rows to the inch on UK No. 8 (4 mm) needles.

The coat is made from the bottom up in pieces with raglan sleeves and sewn together. The bottom edge and the button band are hemmed with mitred corners. There’s a two-colour collar and two-colour patch pockets done in mock-cable ribbing. The pixie hat’s band is made in the contrasting colour.
