Full of various stitch patterns, this stocking pattern is very fun to knit. Various textures keep even the most seasoned knitter interested. These are very addicting to make. You’ll find yourself planning the next stocking… choosing different yarns and color combinations to create your own unique Sampler Stocking! Make one for everyone in the family, each personalized with the recipients’ favorite colors. These are true compliment magnets.

This pattern was originally written to be made with a worsted weight yarn, but while writing the pattern I decided to see what would happen if I used sock yarn. Like most sock knitters I have an insanely large stash of sock yarn that I never seem to use up. This was the perfect way to use up some stash AND not only stash but odds and ends, too! If you use sock yarn and make a 5 (or more) color stocking you will only need a tiny bit of yarn. For my sock yarn example I used 5 colors and 50-gram skeins of sock yarn. I was able to make three stockings and still have enough to probably even make a fourth!

You will need size 8 needles (worsted), or size 6 (DK), or size 3 (sock yarn). DPNs or 2 Circ method.
