Two fearsome dragons guard these spectacular socks. Worked from the top down with a flap and gusset heel, these socks are a treat for fans of stranded colourwork. Some experience of the stranded technique will definitely be an advantage, as the heel section involves working flat (back and forth in rows).

The pattern is offered in three sizes, Small (to fit 7 ½”-8”/19-20cm foot circumference), Medium (to fit 8½”-9”/22-23cm foot circumference), and Large (to fit 9½”-10”/24-25.5cm foot circumference) when worked to pattern tension of 8.5 sts to 1”/2.5cm over stranded pattern on 2.5mm (US 1.5) needles. Bear in mind the fabric produced when stranding colours is often less stretchy.

You will need:
Up to 200 yds (180m) fingering weight sock yarn in colour A (shown as blue-black in photograph)
Up to 225 yds (202m) fingering weight sock yarn in colour B (shown as red in photograph)
2.25mm (US 1) needles for knitting in the round, or one size smaller than needed for pattern tension
2.5mm (US 1.5) needles for knitting in the round, or size needed for pattern tension
2 stitch markers (optional)
Darning needle

You need to be able to: work in the round, work stranded colourwork from charts both in the round and flat, graft using Kitchener stitch
