  • Size can be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by adding or deleting a pattern repeat of 9 stitches.
  • If additional sts are added, make sure to decrease to a multiple of 4 sts for the ribbing part
  • Length can be adjusted by working additional repeats of the stitch pattern, or making the ribbing longer.
  • Lace section is done on larger needles to fall over the top of the boot. It can be done on the same size as the ribbing if it is to be worn up the leg.
  • Using Encore Worsted, I used a size 7 needle on the lace and went down to a 5 for the ribbing

Knitting these on straight needles:

  • add a selvedge stitch on each end of the pattern
  • start knitting chart on row 2 for the right side
  • all odd rows will be purled on the wrong side
  • work decreases and ribbing as directed
  • seam when done
  • learn to knit in the round to avoid all this in the first place!

A small project like this is EXCELLENT for trying new techniques, like first time lace, or knitting in the round!
