Worsted-weight hat inspired by the February Baby/February Lady sweaters.

Rather than working this hat from the brim to the top, which would position the lace upside down in relation to the sweater, this hat is worked from the crown down to the brim. It uses Emily Ocker’s Cast On, which is similar to the Disappearing Magic Loop start seen frequently in crochet amigurumi.

This pattern gives the knitter a chance to learn another new skill, because it uses Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. Binding off while retaining the stretch is imperative here, since it affects the brim.

Semi-solid yarns work well with this stitch pattern, which is simple enough to be a first lace project.

Please post pics in your projects, and link to this pattern page, so that I can see all the lovely hats! I’m looking for a few to add to the pictures.
