Thank you for all of the support and encouragement! The Felicitous Knitalong will run from July 1, 2019 to August 19, 2019. For more information, please join my Ravelry Group here: Al Co Knits.

Felicitous is a triangular, asymmetrical shawl that fades gradually from one dominant color into another. It is knit on the bias and features bobbles, eyelet lace, and garter stitch stripes of varying widths.

Felicitous is inspired by elements of life — particularly the challenges, but also the joys — that are difficult to describe succinctly in words.

As most knitters know well, knitting and the warmth it creates can often stand-in for or supplement language. My hope is that Felicitous brings more of the beauty and hope that knitting can offer into the world, whether it comes through the act of knitting, wearing, or gifting this scarf.

  • Yarn: Malabrigo Mechita (100% wool, 100g, 420 yards), 2 skeins. Any fingering or sock weight yarn may be substituted. Skeins in two contrasting colors: A - Moon Trio Full (multicolored speckle). B - Blue (sample used a single-lot colorway).

The knit sample required about 75g/315 yds of Color A and 95g/400 yards of Color B.

  • Needles: US 6 (4 mm) circular needle.
  • Notions: tapestry needle, row counter (optional).
  • Gauge: 24 stitches and 48 rows to 4 inches garter stitch. Note: While exact gauge is not critical, gauge differences may affect yardage. Knitting a swatch is recommended.
  • Dimensions: 72 inches long and 16 inches deep.

Errata: Set-Up Row 3 should read: sl1wyif, k1, kfb, sl1wyif.
